All week I will be bringing you the most talked about trends in women's shoes and how to best wear them. 

To "kick" off the week I'll be starting with an easy, works for everybody boot that was seen repeatedly on the runways and in the magazines.  This season's must have is the ankle boot.

What I love about this boot is that anybody can pull this one off.

The flat ankle boot looks great with a straight or skinny leg jean and is a stylish alternative to a shoe. This is an especially compelling option if you don't like or can't wear heels.

If you have ever tried on a pair of boots while shopping and haven't been able to zip them up or struggled with the zipper and thought how will I ever be able to tuck a pair of jeans in here too? Then the ankle boot is for you. No more messy looks that can happen when too much pant is tucked into the taller version.

I also think this is a better choice if you are going with a patterned jean.  A sexy tall boot and all that pattern can be overkill.

The most popular styles of these ankle boots lean a bit casual, have a chunky stable heel, and look fabulous with skinny, straight, or boyfriend jeans.

I am smitten with the wedge ankle boots.

Sometimes, we want a bit of heel and I think the most comfortable and secure feeling heel out there is a wedge.  I live in the Midwest. By January it can be rather treacherous. Maybe it is because a wedge offers more contact with the ground but it makes me feel more sure footed.

If it isn't icy and you don't have far to walk or you have lost all the feeling in your feet anyway then why not rock a heeled ankle boot?

Yes they are show stoppers with a skinny jean but they also look amazing with skirts.

After 40, and it is a matter of opinion, but I think that when paired with a skirt that they look best over tights.

Casual or dressier

the ankle boot is a look that just works this season.
